Cadaretta 2009 SBS, Columbia Valley

Interested in trying a new white, we picked up this Washington State blend. The wine mixes tart and tangy Sauvignon Blanc (78%) with Semillon (22%), which smoothes out this energetic wine.

My first impression was of lemonade – a refreshing lemony taste but with a fuller body than a typical Sauvignon Blanc. The wine also has pineapple flavor notes and compelling minerality.

The SBS also has an almost creamy body to it, giving it an interesting mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this wine as a change of pace from Sauvignon Blanc. It is from a small production winery in Walla Walla and about 700 cases were made.

We enjoyed this as an after dinner drink, but it should be an outstanding pairing with seafood. Cost was $24 at Aficionado’s, a nice value.
