Double T 2009 Napa Valley Chardonnay

Explore enticing Italian wines and enjoy!

This Double T Chardonnay is the “little sister” of the internationally successful Trefethen Chardonnay. We recently popped open a bottle and found it to be a tasteful member of the Napa Valley family.
Fruit for this wine comes from the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. The vines are younger than those used in the more famous Trefethen Chardonnay, but the wine is elegant, quite a perfect match for seafood, poultry or just sipping.
The aroma is of apple and melon. The wine has 30% malolactic fermentation, a process that results in fuller body and touch of creaminess. On the palate there are melon and slight citrus flavor notes riffed with oak and vanilla. The oak is distinct, but not overpowering.
This is not as complex as the more costly Napa Chardonnays, but 2009 was a solid vintage. I paid about $12 for this bottle and it delivers a nice Napa Valley Chardonnay experience for the price.
