Once a year we gather with my buddies from college in a rustic cabin in West Virginia. There’s no electricity, no running water and no indoor plumbing. On the plus side, there are no emails from work and there is wine.
To pair up with this delicious meal, I grabbed our chilled bottle of 2010 Dry Creek Vineyard Foggy Oaks Chardonnay. Perhaps it is the fog that makes this wine special – it was a spot-on pairing with our tasty bird.
The DCV Chard expresses a cooler climate terroir, and the winemakers have let the fruit speak for itself without heavy-handed use of oak. It’s a solid Chardonnay from a world-class wine region for a paltry $20.
Full disclosure: We received this wine as a marketing sample.
