Cameron Hughes 2005 Alexander Valley Lot 119 Meritage

This Meritage is a well balanced blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec that can be had for a song. Cameron Hughes is a negociant, buying wines from some top-tier wineries and selling small lots at discount prices. We’ve yet to sample a bad wine from Cameron Hughes.
It’s a smooth sipper with flavor notes of smoky chocolate and fresh berries. The extra time in the bottle has helped round out any rough edges. It is medium bodied with a rewarding finish. I scored this wine for only $13 and it easily drinks like a wine twice
the price.
Cameron Hughes wines are small lots and its not unusual for them to sell out rapidly and be replaced by a different offering. Whatever the wine, you can count on a quality bottle at a reasonable price.
