This white from the Central Italy region of Umbria uses the Grechetto grape, a variety with an origin in Greece. The color is golden straw. The aroma has prominent apples and a delicate nuttiness. The wine is crisp with a light to medium body with an acidity that lends a nice balance. This particular Grechetto is finished in oak and on the palate in addition to apples and light pear, there is a slight strain of toasted wood.
This was my first taste of Grechetto and its a cool choice for a white for those ABC (anything but Chardonnay) wine drinkers. We were able to bag this wine at a steal for a price of only $5.99. That's an superlative QPR (quality price ratio). **+
