Bolla 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, IGT

This Italian Cab goes for about $10 and might fill the bill as a casual sipper, but falls short of a classic Cab experience.

Bolla’s Cab comes from the Delle Venezie region of northeast Italy. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged for an unspecified time in barriques, small wooden barrels, and this imparts a slight oakiness.

Ten percent of the wine is then aged in French and American oak before final blending.

There isn’t much complexity to the wine, as you might expect with a 2010 vintage at this very affordable price. It’s an acceptable quaffer with black fruit flavor notes and a slight spiciness.
