KC Jones 2010 Streamliner White Blend, Sonoma County

Streamliner from KC Jones is a refreshing blend of seven white grapes. KC Jones is a new winery in Sonoma and offers three wines, each with a train themed name.
Streamliner blends together Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling and a small amount of Gewürztraminer. The wine is golden yellow in the glass and floral on the nose.
It’s an aromatic and clean wine that has a crisp snap to it. There is a dollop of green apple and pear along with stone fruit.
I’ve tasted a number of these mega-blends recently and don’t know if including every grape under the sun is the best way to go. Although Green Dragon was able to pick out the tiny bit of Gerwurz in the mix, to me the blending of seven wines took away the distinctiveness of the individual grapes.
At a list price of $25 (although you can find it for less) it isn’t an inexpensive wine. It’s a nice wine to chill with, but falls short of being a favorite white.
