Niner Wine Estates 2008 Bootjack Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles

Where are the best values coming from in California these days? Some would say it comes from Paso Robles, a wine growing region midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The Niner 2008 Bootjack Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is a great case in point. For about $32 you are treated like wine drinking royalty.

The wine has a ripe bouquet of fruit. On the tongue there is rich cherry, plum and cola. This wine has great fruit that blends seamlessly from the first sip to the lingering finish.

It is a rare wine that can appeal to both Cabernet aficionados as well as casual wine drinkers. The Niner 2008 Cab walks that line and comes through as the people’s choice.

Niner Wine Estates is the initiative of Richard Niner. The winery was established in 2001, so in a very short period of time is producing fine wines. The first vintage was in 2003 and the Niner blend of traditional winemaking with cutting edge technology appears to be smashing.

We picked this up at Aficionado in Perrysburg and consider it to be a top pick for Cabs in the $30 price range.
